Volunteer Reviews her time in Costa Rica

Costa Rica was a beautiful place, I was a volunteer in Costa Rica for a month and I did not want to come home when the month was up. I went alone and I would so do it again!

The experience was great I don’t regret anything! My flight to Costa Rica didn’t end up on time because I had 2 stops, New York & Miami. The flight in Miami got cancelled but they sent another one out the next day, but they put me in a hotel! I thought I was going to have to stay in the airport! When I arrived to start my volunteering in Costa Rica there wasnt anyone there to meet me but that was only because they couldn’t find out what time I was arriving with all the flight being messed up, so I just rang the emergency number (which I got given a couple weeks before I went) of the driver who was picking me up and he came to the airport straightaway. I stayed with a local family and I was the only volunteer, I thought at the time! Becauss I couldn’t speak Spanish and they couldnt speak English but we got on great and I ended up learning alot because of the language barrier. After, they took me to meet some of their family and some of them could speak English really well. I ended up making good friends with the niece and we went off to the beach in my last week, it was fab. They were so welcoming, I would go with them for big family dinners and stuff!

I went to volunteer at a day care centre, it was great! The kids were so fun and they are also from poor families. The coordinator over there was always calling to make sure I was okay

I love shopping and it was so cheap for clothes and jewellery if you go shopping go into San Jose, great. I had a fantastic time and I am planning to volunteer in Thailand late June with Original Volunteers later this year. Seriously if anyone doesn’t volunteer they will regret it!  I had an amazing time and I wanna go back!

Thank you.
