Volunteer Uganda

Volunteers in Uganda

Would you like to do some voluntary work in Africa? Do you like working with children? Then volunteer in Uganda – come and be part of an exciting project, helping with children in a rural school. Extra hands are always needed to help maintain order, fun and learning! You could find yourself taking a class or assisting a teacher, or you could be using your love of art or sport to help these little ones learn new skills. Whatever your contribution, volunteering in Uganda will be a richly rewarding experience for you and will greatly help the children there.

Every volunteer is greatly appreciated, no matter how menial a task may seem – even supervising meal times or play times is very important and you will come to love these children, who are very affectionate and keen to please.

If you would like to get stuck in, are resourceful and would like the freedom and flexibility to try out your own ideas, volunteering could be just the thing for you. No teaching or childcare experience is needed to be successful on this project. Volunteers are needed to bring energy and activity ideas for the children between the ages of 4 and 8. Teaching basic numbers, spelling, English, art and craft, sport and other fun games will be most appreciated. Not only is it fun for them, it is also fun for you!

The project is on site so no travelling is needed to volunteer each day.

Accommodation is in comfortable, basic, typical African-style huts. Local project staff provides support and advice.
In your free time, why not go and enjoy the spectacular tropical rainforest or go gorilla tracking in the Bwindi National Park? The endangered mountain gorilla is one of Uganda’s star attractions. There are only about 700 left and small groups of guided tourists can get close to them.

The Sesse islands on Lake Victoria are also not to be missed during your time in Uganda, and if you want to see more African animals during your stay, be sure to visit the Kidepo Gamepark, where you will see lions, zebras, buffaloes, elephants, leopards, baboons, giraffes and cheetahs!

Your time as a volunteer in Uganda will surely never be forgotten!
