Original Volunteers is a registered centre and can support you in gaining one of the following qualifications whilst you volunteer on one of our projects:
You can also gain a recognised Level 3 qualification whilst you are away on your trip of a lifetime, which will look great on your CV and for future employers and be a great learning and self development experience for you too!
CVQ Community Volunteering Qualification Level 3
The purpose of the CVQ is to accredit the skills and knowledge gained through volunteering activities.
You will need to gain athttps://8 credits made up of a selection of compulsory and optional units.

To be successful, volunteers will need to complete units to a Level 3 standard (A level/post GCSE/O level) and submit a folder of written evidence and photos for assessment.
On successful completion of this qualification; volunteers will be awarded a certificate and 30 UCAS points.

This course is available for volunteers arriving on projects from March 15th 2012.
We recommend applying for this course no later than 8 weeks before arrival at your project to ensure you are prepared and have everything you need for when your project starts.
The course fee is £95 upon application. This includes up to 2 hours of email and telephone support.
The course fee is 50% refundable if Original Volunteers is unable to submit your work for assessment, for example, if the work submitted may not satisfy the course requirements for successful qualification, or if you cancel at any time after applying.
Qualifications are usually awarded 3 times a year. For a summer trip, assessment of work submitted is usually completed by November/December.
CoPE Certificate of Personal Effectiveness Level 3
The purpose of the CoPE is to accredit personal effectiveness. The 6 modules can be exclusively focused on your volunteer trip, or as is most usually the case, spread more equallhttps://en your personal hobbies and projects you want to undertake in the UK before travelling. For example, the module below Improving Own Learning and Performance might be learning a new instrument, a new language or gaining a TEFL qualification while the others focus on your volunteering.A student guide and workbook is provided.

This course is available for volunteers arriving on projects from April 15th 2012.
This course will require some pre-departure research and written work in the weeks leading up to your volunteering placement. Most people will complete some work on a topic or hobby unrelated to their volunteer trip, perhaps learning a new skill or hobby or organising an event which may or may not be connected to your volunteer trip. For this reason, we recommend applying for this course no later than 12 weeks before arrival at your project to ensure you are prepared and have everything you need for when your project starts.

CVQ and COPE qualifications accredited and awarded by ASDAN
ASDAN programmes and qualifications are recognised by the Department for Education and their counterparts in Wales and Northern Ireland. ASDAN's Training and certificates grew out of research work at the University of the West of England in the 1980s and were formally established in 1991.
