YOUR EXPERIENCE
On arrival volunteers can choose from two types of placement according to preference: a city placement in Bangkok teaching at one of more schools or a rural school in Sisaket to the north of the country. Volunteers can choose to combine both options, perhaps trying a week or two in Bangkok first before heading off to the north or can stay in Bangkok as preferred.
In both locations volunteers teach basic English to children at schools where English departments are lack the funds to employ full time English teachers. No experience is required just a commitment to have a go and get stuck in.
For Bangkok volunteers unable to travel after their volunteering, the beaches are never too far away and can be easily reached from Bangkok for your end of week day out or a weekend away. For the paradise island experience try the island of Ko Samet or for parties Pattaya, a popular tourist haunt with all the usual bars and entertainment catering for the foreign tourist. For both locations expect to pay £4 for a bamboo cabin on the beach.
Volunteers heading to the north for a rural school placement will experience a very
different Thailand far from the tourist trail, hamburger bars and discotheques of
Bangkok and the Thai beach resorts. Waterfalls to swim in, jungle temples, flower
festivals, paddy fields and stunning scenery make up a volunteer’s experience in
this sleepy town close to the Cambodian border-
