Your experience
At orphanages and educational day centres in and around Nepal you can make a real difference to young people’s lives by providing support with homework and English language lessons. You can also generate creative play through games, sports, singing, dancing and drama.
Many of the projects volunteers work with receive very little funding and rely on charitable donations to continue their work with the children. As a result staffing can be limited so your contribution whether formal teaching or informal conversation and play will make a real difference.
On this placement you will be well looked after from being picked up at the airport,
all transfers, training and support whilst settling in. This makes it ideal for first-
Other stunning locations to volunteer in include: Pokhara, and Bhaktapur

Nepal at a glance...
Nepal is home to Everest and the breathtaking Himalayan Mountains. The world’s highest (and still growing) peaks are twice the height of the Apls and dominate this small country and its way of life. Most Nepalese live far from a road and must travel by foot or mule to carry out their business. Here you will receive a smile and the greeting “Namaste!” from everyone you pass on the path.
Nepal has a rich culture and still has a king. Wherever you go in the country you will see evidence of Hinduism and Buddhism. There are monasteries, shrines, prayer flags and temples everywhere.
An astounding diversity of animal life can also be found in Nepal, ranging from the Bengal tiger to rhinoceros and elephant.

“Everyone is friendly
and accommodating
and the coordinators
are fantastic. I never
felt any uneasiness
whilst at either of the two orphanages I spent time at or whilst
visiting local attractions. I would definitely
consider returning for
a second visit."
Hannah Law volunteered in Ghana April 2007.

“Hello! This is Keenan in Pokhara, having an amazing time at the Children's Centre (thanks again for making this happen)..the kids are amazing, and the adults are the most welcoming, revealing to us that guests in Nepal are always "guests with God." Anyways, I am leaving the placement about a week earlier than planned, in hopes to do some trekking before I depart to go home. Also me and Emmy are interested in a bungee jumping trip.”
Keenan volunteered in Pokhara in August
I’m not sure about being on my own
For volunteers daunted by the prospect of living on their own with a Nepalese family and/or volunteering on their own we can usually place volunteers with another volunteer. Let us know before travel or call us to find out more:
