You will need:
a shoebox or similar size box (see “How to make a cardboard box” template).
black/dark blue paper
crayons/felt tips/paints
glue
scissors
thin string/cotton

Instructions:

Cut a small hole at one end of the box to look through.
Paint the inside of the box either black or dark blue or line the inside of the box with black/dark blue paper.

Use a white crayon to draw either a full crescent or crescent moon.
Use star stickers or draw stars using a yellow crayon.
Draw gravestones etc onto white paper and cut out.
Glue the gravestones to the base of the box so they stand erect.
Draw ghostly shapes/skeletons onto white paper and cut out.
Use cotton thread, attach them to the inside of the lid so they hang down and appear to be moving through the air!
Put the lid and box together and look through the peephole to view a ghostly night scene in a churchyard.
You can play extracts from Sant Saens “Danse Macabre” to give extra atmosphere!
Swap the churchyard scene for vampires and werewolves or science fiction etc if using in a none Christian environment.

Cut out small pictures from colouring books or magazines and colour and glue to the scene.
Hang a spaceship or shooting star from the top with a piece of string and glue.
