Do you have a passion for animals? Do you have time to spare? Why not volunteer in South Africa and spend your time nursing sick animals back to health. Come and work in the monkey sanctuary in Pretoria. Here you will find many injured, orphaned young and elderly monkeys that need to be nursed back to health. Volunteer and help give these beautiful creatures a better quality of life, where rehabilitation into the wild is not possible for them. You can help prepare food for the monkeys and devise stimulation activities for the ones who are unable to be released back into the wild. This is a much loved family-run project, where there are never enough hands or time in the day to carry out all the daily chores required. Volunteer and be part of this adventure!
This is a fantastic opportunity for both animal lovers and people who wish to take up a career in animal care.
When you are not working, there are some parks not to be missed for jaw dropping scenery and wildlife: Cango Caves, Kruger National Park, Blyde River Canyon Reserve and Kgalagagi Transfrontier Park (semi-desert).
If you fancy visiting Johannesburg instead, there are also many places of interest there: Gold Reef City Theme Park, the Apartheid Museum and Wanderers Cricket Ground.
Why not go to Cape Town? Don’t miss Robben Island – the prison museum and enjoy a ride in the Table Top Mountain.
The world’s eyes were on South Africa in 2010 for the World Cup. Why not turn your eyes – and hands – to this great nation now? Come and volunteer in South Africa. You won’t be disappointed!
