We run projects which focus on education, whether teaching English to small groups of children or assessing at the special needs school in Iguazu – a small border town, from which you can walk into two other countries on your doorstep (Argentina and Paraguay). Come and volunteer in Brazil – a country which is renowned for thousands of miles of palm fringed golden beaches, the Amazon, the mighty Iguazu Falls, the Pantanal Wetlands, Rio and the famous carnival.
No knowledge of the Portuguese language is required – just enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference in the lives of Brazilian children.
The special needs school welcomes volunteers for half or full days during the week. English teaching schedules vary but during term time there are 1 or 2 classes a day. Free time is usually spent preparing for classes, relaxing by the pool or at the Iguassu Falls, or visiting the neighbouring countries.
For those with a few weeks to spare, choosing to volunteer puts you in a great position to combine with neighbouring projects in Paraguay and Argentina.
Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world and is a land of wonders, still mostly undiscovered by British tourists. When you volunteer, your placement is located in a popular destination with many people arriving at the local bus terminal every day from around the world to marvel at the impressive Falls. There are two sides of the Falls to visit, the Argentinean side and the Brazilian side – both competing to offer visitors the best experience.
During your time as a volunteer in Brazil, why not join these tourists and experience the beauty of the Falls for yourself? You will need to allow at least a day’s visit to each and possibly another visit to include a boat trip, a helicopter ride over the Falls or a guided trip into the jungle.
After your placement a trip further afield from Foz to Bonito is a must-see and one of South America’s best kept secrets. A trip can easily be arranged after your arrival in Foz with a local tour operator and trips can include snorkelling and exploring the azure waters of the underground caverns, horse riding and fishing.
An unforgettable experience is guaranteed – come and volunteer in Brazil!
