Argentina
Placement Overview - Full
This is your chance to combine a passion for community work and culture in an incredible city. A city which is more European than South American in flavour. Here you will find cobbled streets, tango, street performers, faded colonial architecture, the famous Argentina steak and The Marias Irish Pub.
Your Experience
Volunteers will work in a variety on different worthwhile community projects where help is needed most from community centres in poorer slum areas of the city and nurseries to children's homes.
Placements are allocated after arrival to each volunteer by a volunteer coordinator based on the volunteers interests and skill level.
As a volunteer you will help to fill a gap and will assist Monday to Friday on your placement. You do not need to prepare yourself especially for this placement other than try to brush up on your Spanish or learn a few phrases before you arrive.
Each month a 3 to 5 day humanitarian trip is organised to the tropical north of Argentina, close to the Brazilian border to hand out supplies and resources to poorer indigenous Guarani communities. A trip to visit the Iguassu Falls is usually included for those interested. Allow approximately £100 for the trip Please contact us for more information.
Volunteers usually stay together in a shared volunteer house or appartment. Homestays if requested in advance, can be arranged for volunteers wanting to improve their Spanish. This project is often combined with the Brazil project. A coach between the two costs approx. £70 each way.
